Troubleshooting with the Telraam S2 Outdoor

If your Telraam does not appear to be active, or does not become active after (re)installation, a few simple on-site checks can often quickly clarify what is going on. This article describes how to inspect the installation step by step, from LED status to testing with an external battery.

Preparation

Make sure you have the following before heading to the location:

  • Access to the Telraam (a ladder if needed)

  • An external powerbank with USB-C connection

  • Zip ties (to reattach cables if necessary)

  • Scissors / pliers (to cut existing zip ties from cables)

  • A smartphone to take photos and report the device status

Procedure

Upon arrival, start by taking photos of the full setup: an overview shot from a distance and close-up photos of the Telraam, QR code of the Telraam, the solar panel, and all cable connections.

Step 1 — Check the serial number

Verify that the serial number of the Telraam matches the device registered in the system. An incorrect serial number may explain why the device is not becoming active.

Step 2 — Check the LED status

Observe the LED lights on the Telraam (read more in "What do the LED lights on Telraam S2 Outdoor mean") and, where applicable, on the solar panel battery separately. (read more in "Power supply for Telraam S2 Outdoor"). Note the status of each device.

Step 3 — Restart the battery

Press the on/off button of the power source. Then check the LED status of the Telraam and the battery again, and note what you observe.

Step 4 — Check the cables (if the Telraam is still not active)

If no LED light is on on the Telraam: check all cables and connections and reconnect them to rule out poor contact. Make sure all cables are properly secured and nothing is loose. Restart the battery and note the LED status of both devices.

Step 5 — Test with the external battery (if the Telraam is still not active)

If the Telraam still does not respond after step 4: temporarily connect it to the external powerbank to check whether the device itself is still working. Note the LED behaviour of the Telraam during this test.

Step 6 — Reconnect to the original power source

Reconnect the Telraam to its original power supply. Make sure you press the on/off button of the battery firmly. Note the LED status of both the Telraam and the battery once more.

Conclusion

Report the LED status of the Telraam and the battery after each step. This information is essential to be able to assist you remotely. Send your findings, including photos and the serial number of the device, to support@telraam.net.
