We tested several methods, and nail polish remover turned out to be the most effective solution for completely removing tape residue from the window.
What you need:
Nail polish remover (preferably with acetone)
Cotton pads and/or cotton swabs
A plastic spatula or bank card
Optional: glass cleaner for a polished finish
Step-by-step:
Carefully remove the bracket from the window.
If it's difficult, use a plastic card to gently slide under the adhesive strip.💡 Tip: If the bracket won’t come off easily, apply some nail polish remover to a cotton swab and press it against the edges of the adhesive. This will help loosen it gradually.
Apply nail polish remover to a cotton pad and dab it onto the glue residue. Let it soak in for a few seconds.
Gently rub with the cotton pad until the adhesive loosens.
Repeat if needed until all residue is removed.
Clean the window with water and a mild detergent or glass cleaner.
Reusing the bracket
If you want to reuse the Telraam bracket (for example, on another window or in a new location), that’s perfectly fine. Just make sure not to reuse the original tape. Once removed, it no longer provides a reliable hold, which can affect both the installation stability and data quality.
We recommend using new double-sided tape, preferably 3M VHB (Very High Bond) tape, for a strong and durable setup.
Order new tape here:
🇬🇧 Amazon UK: 3M 12mm tape
🇪🇺 Amazon EU (Duitsland): 3m 12mm tape
🇺🇸 Amazon US: 3M 12mm tape
Note: A width of around 12 mm is closest to the original tape.
