Can I make my data private?

Yes, you can! While Telraam is committed to open data by default—sharing traffic data from all devices to help build better mobility insights—we understand that some users or organizations may want to keep their data private. For this reason, Telraam provides the option to make your data private. However, since we prioritize open data and encourage public sharing, making your data private comes with an additional subscription fee of €15/device per month and it is only possible for devices within a network.




Currently, the data available from private installations is more limited. However, we are actively working on expanding our private data products to offer the complete range of data products in the future.

What does it mean, 'private data'?

Private data refers to traffic data collected by a Telraam device that is not shared publicly. This means the data will not appear on Telraam’s public pages (example), and it will not be accessible via Telraam’s public API.

However, if there are two devices installed on the same road segment—one public and one private—the public device’s data will still be available on the public page. The private data will remain hidden.

Who can make data private?

Only network admins who own devices with a network subscription have the ability to make data private. The key requirement is that the device you wish to set to private must be linked to a network subscription.

How do you make data private?

If you have a network subscription and want to make a device private, you have the following options:

  • For new devices with a remote set-up: During the remote setup process, you can select the option to make the device private from the beginning.

  • For existing devices in your network: Go to your dashboard, open the device’s details, and toggle the option to “make it private.”

  • For network-wide private data: If you prefer all the devices and data within your network to be private by default, you can activate this in your network settings. Simply enable the option “all users & devices are private by default.”
